It's Not Fair

I have fine lines and pimples. THIS AIN'T RIGHT. I'm only 26!!!

I'm reminded of my ex, who was bald yet had dandruff. This is karma for me making fun of him.

So Far...

...so good. Sesame, that is:

Worst. Picture. Ever. How embarassing.

Er, ignore the blatant rowing out that's going on. My tension is butt when it comes to back and forth knitting vs. knitting in the round. I need to figure out a way to correct this. I know it's my purl rows, and although the combined knitting is an improvement, the tension is still, well, assy.

Wait, what am I saying, it's a design element. Yeah, that's the ticket.

I finished the drop stitch scarf. It really needs a firm blocking before I showcase it, but it's scary ass red yarn in all it's glory.

RSS Feeds Should be Working Now

Laura commented in the last post, bringing this issue to my attention. It should all be fixed now, but let me know if any of you still encounter problems subscribing, commenting, etc. Apparently the lack of feeds was due to a hack job on my part of forwarding my url and blah blah blah a tech person fixed it for me. I have no idea, but magically feeds showed up. Thank you, tech leprechaun!

I Still Hate Knitting...

...but kinda less. I'm also still working on my boring ass drop stitch scarf. This Manos yarn is tricky shit. While I'm knitting I will catch myself staring at the colors in the yarn because they are so prismatic, so pretty, then I will step back from the scarf and think, "Feh, this looks like red and pink camo. The classiest of the camos." This yarn is a paradox, beautiful yet fugly. I probably don't need to say that this scarf is going to be a gift for some "lucky" individual.

Here is a picture of the color I am using, for visual reference and to jazz up this otherwise whiny, pedestrian entry:

What this scarf is doing, however, is relaxing my knitting stress. I no longer feel like burning all my yarn and using my bamboo needles as kindling. This is good because wool is naturally flame retardant and it would be a chore to burn my stash.

In fact, I've got it all figured out. If my next sweater is another failure (making it, like, 8 failed sweaters in a row) (*cry*) I'm just going to knit scarves for the rest of my life. I can rename this blog "Scarf Abuse," and amuse you with my tales of garter stitch woe. Won't that be FUN?

I'm totally kidding. I live on stress. Y'all know I'll always have some twisted, hunchbacked sweater monstrosity on the needles. I just love to make you laugh, plus I believe that knitting ugliness is good for my karma somehow. Shut up, it is! So next up: Sesame! I'm using Knitpicks Merino Style in dark green (Moss), no stripes. This should be fun! Fun in that "I hate you, knitting, submit to me or die!" kind of way, know what I mean? No?

I Hate Knitting

I worked on Hourglass all weekend long and then yesterday I got That Feeling. I've had a little bit of That Feeling all along, but yesterday the warning bells were jangling like mad.

So I ran a lifeline through all the stitches and tried the sweater on. And dudes. Fat does not describe my look in this sweater. I measured and measured, and by all means I should have only had about 2" of ease. That's normal, right? Somehow, on me, the sweater grew to epic proportions. Maybe it was the horizontal stripes caused by the hand dyed nature of the Malabrigo. Maybe it was all the snacks I've eaten while quitting the cigs. (I have, actually, gained about 8 pounds since quitting*sob*) I don't know, but I looked like Delta Burke. Early 90's Delta Burke. It was bad, that's what I'm saying.

Oh, and I found out at the same time that bluish-purple is so not my color. Jaundiced, anemic Delta Burke is not a look I should be rocking. So, I ripped. I ripped out a sweater that was 85% complete.

Since this was the second Hourglass that's gone sour on me, I decided to put the pattern away. Extended hiatus. The yarn went back in the stash. And here's where the hate of knitting set in: I have no stash I'm interested in knitting. Maybe it's the post-ripping depression or more likely the depression plus some awesome PMS, but I have zero interest in all of my yarn and no pattern is jumping out at me. In a desperate effort, I pulled out some older than dirt Manos* to work a drop stitch scarf, but snoooooooooore. BORING.

Sorry to bitch so much, but I'm hoping maybe some of you know where I'm coming from with the knitting fugue. I'm sure I'll be back to normal in a day or two, but right now I'm pretty cranky.

*Why do people love Manos so much? It's not soft, the colors pool, it's expensive and you get like, what, 100 yards per skein? Fuck Manos.
