Shit and Shit (this is also the name of my future antiques store)

A little late, but as promised here is the Striped Thing.

I had some pretty grand ambitions of using all my scrap yarn to put together a stripey cowl, and just by looking at the above picture, you may be thinking that I did achieve some moderate degree of success.

Well, look again.

BAM! It's FrankenFO, muthas! I will now put this away and we will never speak of it again.

In other knitting disasters, here we have Crap the Ripper. He started out as 4 balls of Rowan Yorkshire Tweed and a dream. He ended up a beach towel lined with salty, salty tears. It's okay, though. He's gone now and he'll never hurt us again.

I am enjoying one of my knits these days, however. A scarf based upon a little known pattern known as the Clapotis. Oh? You've heard of this obscure pattern? I'm using Knitpicks Gloss cannibalized from the now dead Thermal. I'm digging it.

I took a trip this past weekend to the homeland, Luverne, MN. I visited my grandpa (still awesome), and saw my dad and a highschool buddy I hadn't seen in a while. Let's see, what else...OH YEAH, it was negative degrees the WHOLE. TIME. I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to visit Minnesota in February, but I am going to see a shrink and find out where this deep-seated masochism is coming from.

Here's a picture from the outskirts of the town. I found this bench on the corner of Buttfuck and Egypt.

Interesting photo!!! For the cowl, and the other tweedy thing you can sew them up into bags or pouches... Come on, you have stores of imagination, just push them further...... (or give them to your worst ennemy!!! ha ha)

That reminds me of the time I decided "I'll use my last spring break to drive to the midwest!" ...yeah, well spring in Ohio is not so great. I had this truck full of fishing stuff and it was like -10 while driving out there. All the laes were frozen and the rivers were full of snow run-off. ...we drank a lot. A LOT.

What a coincidence...there is a corner called Buttfuck and Egypt in MY hometown of Kodiak, Alaska, too!

That bench photo is gorgeous. But why? Why the bench? Who sits there?

Yo--shout out to a fellow native Minnesotan!! What an inviting photo of your beloved home town...what warm feelings of nostalgia you must have for such a dear, inviting place!

So yeah I too want to know what lens you're using since I'm now the proud but much poorer owner of a D80. Also I'd shop at shit and shit if for no other reason than to use a snobby voice and say 'Oh you like that I got that the most amazing boutique "shit and shit' just to see the reactions. On the cowl...it might not be you know stunningly gorgeous but you can wear it indoors when its cold and not care if it turns into a pilly mess. Also love the clap. I think they look great in solid colors.

MN in the winter: it is not for the weak. I was home back in December--brutal! And I'm going back for more in a couple weeks. If you find a support group let me know.

aaaaaaaaaahahahahaha - i'm still laughing and my eyes are watering a little. shoot. you are cracking me up! so why did you get rip out thermal? (i've thought of making one myself...)

Hmm...not a very cowly cowl...maybe close up the bottom and felt it for a small bag?

And what, it's not cold enough here in the city for you? Minnesota? I can't imagine.

I have the same dream (kind of) for my scrap yarn, though most of it is malabrigo & I've been waiting till all random skiens are knit so I have a good color choice :) I honestly don't think it looks all that bad. I would say, rustic.

I too just took a trip home to Minnesota in Feb. Though to the cities, & man -40 windchill still just hurts. I don't care who you are, that cold just hurts. Is it crazy I still want to move back?!
