New Years Resolmumblemumble + Crappy Internet Behaviour + Garden Photos! (Whew)

I have actual things to tell y'all! I'm doing Bikram yoga. My New Year's goals are to lose last year's fat gain and get overall healthier (also: spend less money on non-yarn and therefore unnecessary crap). Anyway, Bikram is the hot yoga where they turn the heat up to like 105 degrees and you sweat your face off. One of these nights I will have Monkey King take a picture of me when I walk in the door from class, for I am hilariously disgusting. I've gone six times so far and I can now do this thing where I grab my foot and pull it over my head. Then I fall on my face. It's very zen, trust me. Seriously, though, I love it even though I am the crappiest yogi ever.

On the knitting front, my brown sweater is complete. I haven't been able to do a "model shot" since I'm not really home during daylight. But here it is on a hanger:

I like it, but true confession time: I haven't even tried it on since before I blocked it. I know! I've been both too lazy and too busy (which is a weird state to be in) to try it on. Um, in case you're interested, it's yak/wool blend from Schoolhouse Yarns, 2 and maybe 1/4 skeins, size 8 Knitpicks circular needles and directions from Knitting without Tears. Pretty much my usual thing when it comes to sweaters. I dunno, maybe it needs a hood? It's a pretty plain-ass vanilla sweater, yak notwithstanding.

I've started another project, a scarf made using leftover Jaeger Trinity that I need to realize will just never leave my stash, ever. (I really need another scarf. I'm really lying. It's just an excuse to use up The Yarn That Won't Die.) It's going very slowly, but I might get more done on it if I only had more time to watch television. These hour and a half sessions of yoga really cut into my ass-sitting time. This scarf is curling like mad since it's mostly stockinette with a row of YOs, but I think a good, soaking wet blocking will help things a lot, and I don't mind a little bit of curl.

So for my birthday an anonymous, fake email-using cockwad gave me some unsolicited advice (last comment in the entry)! And it's pretty damn rude, too. Truly the gift that keeps on giving. Giving me headaches from rolling my eyes too far back, that is. So, thank you, fewfiaof@gjirowa.com, for the opportunity to test IP banning. Now go eat a well-used urinal cake.

To end on a more positive note, here's my favorite shots (heavily photoshopped) from the gorgeous Leu Gardens in Orlando:

Wow, I LOVE the photo with the ceiling fan! Did you kind of make it sepia with photo shop? LOVE IT!

That person really needs to keep their noes out of other people's business!

The garden shots are amazing. And you do vanilla sweater better than anyone, I love your yak creation! And that person is a fucktard, btw.

Why in the world some ass-face would leave a comment like that is beyond me. Jeez, some people.

I was so happy to see you updated! I love the pictures you posted. The image of the fan is my favorite. It looks so rich. I hope you post an action picture of the sweater soon, it looks nice!

I *love* the plain vanilla (or rather: chocolate? truffle? coffee?) sweater. I find that, whilst the intricate knits are more fun to work on, the plain ones are worn (by me, at least) faaar more often.
Re: unsolicited advise from a f***head, the age-old question arises again: "Idiocy - genetic or environmental?"

Photos are amazing!!. I'm hoping to go to FL in May.. and now I want to visit the same gardens.. THX!.. Given the yoga, I think the sweater is perfectly vanilla - zen ;) As far as the f^ckface.. well. they're just that...

heehee, cockwad. you're funny!

and good for you for doing bikram yoga! i could never do it, as i get claustrophobic in too-hot situations. (saunas and the like) i'll stick to regular temperature yoga and maybe i can learn to pull my leg over my head and fall on my face as well :). i'm pretty clumsy, so i think i can do it!!!

Recently added you to my bloglines, after I found/made your neckwarmer scarf (which turned out to be the most awesome scarf ever, BTW. I forgot to take a picture before gifting it, but trust me, it was cute.)

Anyhoo, just wanted to comment that I really like your eyebrows. And that I think Bikram yoga would make me faint, I'm not so good in the heat.

I like the "plain" sweater. And I don't get why people have to be rude!

People can be so freaking rude. What the F?

I took my first yoga class this year (increased flexibility is my goal for the new year) and I almost fell over on several occasions. Increased balance should be another goal of mine. ;)

Your sweater looks beautiful.

ok I went and read the comment, wtf? It made me laugh, I'm so surprised at all the nut jobs out there.

The sweater looks gorgeous! can't wait to see it modeled.

Love the sweater. Looks very comfy. Can I come stay in a spare closet? You know, so I can be somewhere it's normal to wear sweaters? I'll bring stash and cookies. ;)

Also went and read the comment as well. All I can think is that that person is jealous of the fact that you don't have to eat a well-used urinal cake and they do.

Really enjoying your posts. Thanks for the laughs & the honesty.

Some people are asses (and also lack taste & style). You are beautiful.

No comment to that person. I have a headache now from reading it.

The garden pictures are so lovely! And bikram yoga? Sounds like fun...do get a picture of the falling on your face part. Have a sweaty good time...and get some modeled pictures of that damn sweater!

OMG, with that comment! Who does that?? UGH!

On the other hand, kudos to you on the yoga! You've reminded me how much I really loved yoga when I was doing it regularly- I think I need to get back to that! (I would come home looking like a drenched mess, myself, so I know exactly what you mean.)

I love your knitting, your glasses, and every little thing about you! I've been in knots since December 22 waiting for a new post and am glad you're back. Bikram is awesome--I have done it for almost a year now. Such a luxury to spend 2 hours each session just working on me. Plus, it makes things like crazy people who comment on eyebrows give you the giggles, not headaches.

who the shit does that? someone with an inflated sense of self, i think.

the sweater looks great. i can't wait to see it on you and your pictures from the gardens are gorgeous.

i think it's pretty admirable that you are doing that much hot ass yoga. that takes some serious dedication and will-power.

It's so exciting to see people starting Bikram. I run a yoga studio in Atlanta, GA, so I am always thrilled to see people taking up the practice.

Good luck with it, and don't forget to take it slow. If you build the strength and balance that you need first, the lifting your foot above your head (I'm guessing that you're talking about standing bow pose) will follow, and your body gets exponentially more out of it.

Namaste!

haaa! both your eyebrows and your glasses are adorable. i particularly like the "i am knit-ja" photo, which shows off both. whoever wrote that is a fucktard.

i have really enjoyed your site ever since i was directed to it by a wonderful salesperson at my favorite LYS here in seattle. your fame reaches far...

Love the plain vanilla sweater!

Yoga is one of my resolutions too. I've got to get back into it!

And, though its been said multiple times before, I would just like to say it again - dude is a fucktard. I dig your glasses (and eyebrows) and happen to have very similar frames!
January 9, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLikelystory
What kind of asshat leaves random blog comments on people's eyebrows and glasses?

They both look fucking awesome from here. I wish I had to face to carry off those kind of frames. So so cute.
