Sweater (and Life) Update

I am a bad, bad blogger. I hate apologizing in general for not blogging, but I know it's high time to write something when my sweet friend Bo called to make sure I'm okay. I'm okay! Just dull!

I guess I could blame knitting torpor, since that is going on. With maybe my usual winter ennui. That is definitely happening. As a rule, I don't like to blog unless something exciting is happening with my knitting (with pictures) but blog-morally (I made that up), I reason that I should blog about my life when I hit a knitting slump. What, then, do you do when little in your life seems like it would be interesting to others? Thanks to Bo, I realized that I am kind of a dumbass and I should stop being a dick.

To recap my life lately: I have jury duty right now, and omg, I freaking love it! Except...they won't let me bring my knitting in. Because it would be used for shanking purposes? Seriously, don't they understand that someone would basically have to rape a retarded puppy in front of a room full of pre-schoolers for a knitter to ruin their work with stabbinosity? Must I educate EVERYONE?! Anyway, I wasn't going to argue with the Knitting Police and risk getting tazed over some KnitPicks Options. You gotta draw a line.

Just another one of my magnificent displays of common sense.

Knitting aside, jury duty has been awesome because I haven't even had to serve on a jury. I just have to show up each day for the chance to be picked at random. While waiting to never be picked (I guess I exude all kinds of bias. Inherited from my dad), I've read I am Legend. I really enjoyed it, and now I can't wait for the movie! Then I can be all elite and complain about how it differs from the original, you see. The Harry Potter series has taught me well.

Let's see...oh! I bought a new lens for my sexy camera. The Nikon 18-200mm VR lens. Trust me, it is freaking sweet. As well it should be, because I sold my 10-20mm Sigma lens to go towards the purchase and you guys remember selling your textbooks back? Like, you spent $300.00 on books and got back $40.00? That's kind of what selling lenses is like, only instead of just being bent over, you get no lube and the jerk is videotaping it. Also, the price of the 18-200 is no joke . For what I paid, this lens should apologize in every language (including Esperanto) for every time I miss my shot. Then buy me dinner. And then call the next day. To apologize some more. Please, my friends, do not get a SLR camera. Learn from my mistakes.

And now for those patiently waiting, here is my knitting progress. I was reaching Thermal levels of boredom with this project, but now I've finally finished the sleeves. Woo! I was thinking about doing a Zimmerman hybrid sweater thing with the yoke, but then I bought Vogue's Knit & Purl stitch dictionary and now visions of textured stitches are running through my head.

Oh, and to be filed under, "Awesome shit happens when you get off your ass once in a while," I made a call to my dear friend Michael and that turned into a vacation in Paris next spring! Basically, I brought up him visiting here or me visiting there (see, he is a good friend from Back In The Day Minneapolis), and he was like, "I'm going to Paris ," and I was immediately all, "With me, obviously." And he was like, "Sure, why not." That's right, I crashed his vacation. You're allowed to do that with friends for life. Besides, I can't let Christie have all the fun.

And we made chestnuts today. No open fire, but they were still good. These chestnuts are all like, "The power of Christ compels you! To eat us!"

Oh, I made a post about wine a while ago, and now I actually have a recommendation to make: Verdejo. I am a self-classified red wine drinker, excluding Revolution 9 and champagne, but if you are looking for something outside the range of pinot noir and sauvignon, I seriously recommend (and I never recommend, much less seriously) any kind of verdejo wine.  Trust me.

I love the color of your sweater! AND, I love the seamless sweater designs by EZ. Something about them makes them seem to move a lot faster.

Man, I got to knit in the waiting box - in DC they are just happy you showed up reasonably sober. I get called up every two years (no matter where I live) and I ALWAYS get sent home. I seriuosly would love to get on a jury for a day or two. "Fry 'Em!" ""Sigh"" some day.

I'm so glad you posted, because I was getting tired of giving thanks every day, a la your last post. I know, heretical, but just the same...

I'm new to your blog and love it! You make me snort my tea out my nose right at work which is actually fun for everyone here!

beautiful sweater (and chestnuts - must. buy. chestnuts.)!

The power of christ compels me to go buy chestnuts now. Wow, they truly are powerful.

Ok, you completely slay me every time...only Ms. Yarn Abuse could talk about Chestnuts and taking it up the ass metaphorically in one post. Wow. But now I know why I like you so much, because of the Minneapolis connection. That's my hometown, sister, and like all dorky people from Minneapolis I have to let my unbridled civic enthusiasm get out of control when faced with someone else from the same place...

Wow. Retarded puppy rape. Tazers. Less than tender anal. You are a master of the mental landscape. Have you ever considered writing children's stories?

I'm always trying to break into the writing scene, but those damn preschoolers do not test well with my stories.

Dude, the no knitting jury duty sucks! I got called up shortly after moving my Cali ass to Mhtn and was able to knit and not get called for a week. In that week I made a baby blankie and the "baby" is now 12. WTF!

Love the Cloche and will making that soon!

Oh Kim..I'm just in stitches! Yeah, the lenses thing.. the one thing holding me back from an SLR, and I REALLY want one. It's going to put me in extreme poverty.

Hey! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one lacking in the blogging. I've just been so out of it.

They were roasting marrons in Paris when we were there...and the power of Christ was compelling me to eat them, but I resisted. You're going to have a great time when you go...and Spring! It will be so beautiful. And this really hot French guy told us to go on a Bateau-Mouches...the dinner boat on the Seine, but we didn't have a chance to...you'll have to go for us! Now I"m jealous!

yeah the cost of SLR equipment is no joke. I also found out that newborn babies are not acceptable currency for camera equipment, only pounds of flesh

All I have to say, Kim...is that you are getting soooooo good! I have been a knitting fiend myself but I don't often take pictures of my work. I think I'd like to start after seeing yours. Ah, Kim, my inspiration! *sigh* ;)

It's been forever, hugs, and Happy New Year to you!
