So innocent...so diabolical

Here's my very first stranded knitting. I'm kinda proud.

Tension schmension, tighter is righter!

But...

Ugh...just...ugh. Ta da! They're now a gift!

This is where the new round starts. Fugly. That's ok, you know why? Because I taught myself to knit with BOTH HANDS. It's not easy, it's not pretty, but by god I can do it. Left hand, you are a useless stump no more!

I could totally sell these! (sorry, couldn't resist)

Speaking of which...thank you all for your commiserations. Wow. It's so nice to have a blog and talk the talk with people who know. Elli & Angela suggested a knitting class, which I've done and wouldn't you know, it's the people who don't deign to learn who expect me to knit them dirt cheap goods. Figures, I guess.

Just to clarify, I make big noise about what a selfish slag I am, but I don't mind knitting for people I love or people I know will appreciate the knits. The people who offer me $10.00 for my time and labor, however, are not people I would consider the appreciative type.

What can I say, I like to give it away. *wink wink*

Wow -- I think it looks great, for one!! Good job!! I *really* need to be working on that Philosopher's wool thing some day. (So many things to get distracted about!) re: your last entry, about the people undervaluing handknit items ... you know, I think that it really shows how we in our society are so detached from stuff -- we're in such a consumerist mode that we can buy handknit sweaters from Ireland for $30.00 at TJ Maxx (I've seen some there!), and it really makes people unaware of the work that hand-made items take. I've had so many people say to me, "You should knit those and sell them!" But in reality, if I get paid a decent wage in my real job, then it's so much more cost effective to knit only for myself. So, that's what I do. :) Take care! Continue with the mittens -- I love them!

Wow that looks great! As a lefty, I'm glad you found a use for that thing at the end of your left arm. I would totally buy those mittens for a bus token and a piece of gum. You know you want it.

I am so in awe of your mitteneous prowess. I can't believe what skill you've developed in such a short amount of time. Seeing them, makes me want to take a beginning knitting class, and finally admit that I really don't know what the hell I'm doing with 2 sticks. *getting brave* Hi, my name is Lara, and I'm just a crocheter *sobbing*

I'd give you at least 2 bus tokens, some ABC gum, and a piece of twine for that mitten.
